At Oneidas Dance Studio we teach the following dance techniques:

BALLET
Classical ballet provides the foundation for all other dance forms and is recommended for all serious dancers. It is the most demanding, most disciplined of all dance forms; but also the most rewarding. Our professional ballet program is a Russian style of ballet. Our faculty concentrates on the Royal Academy technique. Ballet class begins with barre work. Dancers go onto center floor work, adagio, allegro, and progressions  (depending on the level). Dancers develop grace and poise. Terminology and proper technical execution are the primary goals for proper ballet training.
Attire: Class leotard, pink tights, ballet/pointe shoes, and hair in a tight bun.

TECHNIQUE / CONDITIONING
Focuses on strengthening, toning and stretching different parts of the body. Conditioning/Technique class provides a regimen of exercises for the development of a dancer’s physical endurance, strength, flexibility and coordination. Students will work at the barre, on floor mats, across the floor and more.
Attire: Leotard, pink/tan tights, ballet/turning/jazz shoes or barefoot, and hair in a tight bun or ponytail.

JAZZ
Jazz Technique is a style of dance with a strong ballet and modern background. There are many styles of jazz ranging from: Broadway Jazz, Modern Jazz, African Jazz, Commercial Jazz and many more. Jazz classes include a technical warm up and stretch, jump and turn across the floor and a combination or routine that emphasizes proper technique, alignment and movement quality.

FLAMENCO
“El baile flamenco” (Flamenco Dance) is known for its emotional intensity, proud carriage, expressive use of the arms and rhythmic stamping of the feet. We include different styles of Flamenco dances from regions of Spain including Sevillanas, Jota, Zapateado and Alegrías.

CONTEMPORARY / MODERN

Modern & Contemporary dance allows students to explore their individual dance style outside of the structure of traditional ballet and jazz classes.
